Isabel (Codename: Skipper)

Background

Hi everyone! I was raised in Asheville, NC, with a bit of time in Chattanooga, TN and Zaragoza, Spain. I went to UNC Chapel Hill for undergrad, where I first fell in love with building businesses and using capitalism as a force for good. While there, I co-founded a student-led company called Carolina Thrift. Since then, I’ve been finding my way back to the startup world.

After college, I joined a venture capital fund doing direct and fund investing, then moved to an impact investment bank. Through both of those experiences, I realized I was more drawn to building and operating than advising and investing. I took a “professional gap year” and did a Fulbright in Mexico City, where I supported some of Mexico’s top health tech startups. That experience solidified the direction I wanted to take, and I’m so excited to have landed at Fay!

Outside of work, you’ll find me staying active (triathlons, lifting, yoga), cooking and eating, making pottery, hiking, and catching live music. I’m sooo excited to join the team in SF and make the most of everything the West Coast has to offer!!!

What I’ve been learning and reading lately

Currently reading: The Story of a New Name, a novel about a lifelong female friendship tested by ambition and love. I've always been more of a nonfiction reader, but I'm trying to lean into fiction!
Currently learning: I'm currently learning pottery! After graduating college, I committed to pick up one new hobby each year. So far, I’ve learned to make kombucha, weight lift, sail, and completed my first triathlon. This year, it's pottery!
