Background
Hey hey! I was born in Lanzhou, China before starting a trip along the east coast of North America - living in Montreal, Baltimore, Atlanta, Durham, Long Island, Miami, for a few years at a time, and am now in Manhattan!
I’m a proud Duke University graduate and sometimes delusional fan of Duke basketball. I ran a mattress rental startup at Duke (translation: I did lots of manual labor in college) and worked in consulting for 2 years before joining Fay as employee #4!
When not going heads down and taking longer than usual to reply to your slack message, you can find me doing something active (I’m training and qualifying for the NYC 2024 marathon!) or watching a movie you may or may not ever have heard of (vimeo plug here).
My favorite meals
- 🍜 Noodles: The dish that put my hometown on the map - Lanzhou Handpulled noodles - is my go to homey meal. The best place I’ve found in NYC is at DunHuang near Grand Central, highly recommend!
- 🍣 Sushi: I’ve been learning how to properly make nigiri sushi for some time now … although the only thing I’m comfortable with having people taste is the sushi rice for now. Stay tuned
- 🥮 Dim Sum: Cantonese cuisine is my favorite type of Chinese food - highly recommend going to Emperor Seafood in Flushing, my current NYC fav.
What I’ve been learning and reading about lately
- 🤺 Learning how to fence foil as an adult (shoutout Fencer’s Club in NYC)
- 📖 Reading There’s No Such Thing As An Easy Job - a Japanese translated novel on late stage capitalism
- 📺 Watching How I Met Your Mother - Watching it as a mid-twenty year old living in NYC hits different.
