Background

Hey! I’m Ken, currently hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Before New York, I lived in San Francisco where I moved to after graduating from Duke. I grew up in a city called Kitchener, which is about an hour southwest of Toronto. I’ve had previous stints at other startups in healthtech, fintech, and HRtech (unsure if that’s an official thing)

I enjoy most things music! I mostly listen to metal and hardcore and enjoy going to shows, collecting records, and playing the drums. I also like to bike and ski (although have found it a little more difficult for both activities in New York compared to San Francisco). Outside of that, I spend most of my personal time exploring New York with friends and watching college basketball and football. I used to travel a decent amount before the pandemic, but am trying to find more time for it!

My favorite meals

Japanese: I love basically everything in Japanese cuisine, but particularly ramen, sushi, and katsu curry
Mexican/Tex Mex: I’m pretty basic here, but I love a good burrito or taco
Italian: If carbonara is on the menu, I’m probably going to order it

What I’ve been learning about lately

Hardcore music: Since moving to New York, I’ve started discovering/listening to/seeing more hardcore bands than I had in the past. I think it’s some combination of the fact that New York just gets lots of shows, a high concentration of hardcore bands on the east coast, and hardcore experiencing a bit of a renaissance at the moment
New York current events: I’ve read the New York Times for a while, but have relatively recently been trying to keep up with more local news outlets. Recently, I’ve been following Gothamist and The City
How to not kill my houseplants: I’m close to resigning myself to only living with snake plants
