Hi all! I’m Owen, a 🇨🇦 living in 🇺🇸 — still deciding between NYC and SF (sell me on either if you have a strong opinion!).
I spent the last 7 years nomadic, hopping places every month or so. Top highlights include van lifing in New Zealand, snorkeling with dolphins in Egypt, and diving with manta rays in Hawaii. I got to see and experience a lot during that time, but now I’m craving having roots.
Food has always been a passion for me. On the career front I’ve worked on software for grocery delivery, restaurant back of house, coffee supply chain, and cold shipping. I took a break from tech at one point to work in a couple restaurants. Hobbies, I ran a cooking channel that got a bit of virality and annually do a home cooked tasting menu for friends.
Fay felt like a natural fit, I’m excited to elevate food’s role in our health!
🍜 Noodles of any kind — lanzhou noodles, ramen, pho, pad kee mao, cacio e pepe, you name it. I’ve been trying to reduce my carb intake which has been difficult.
🥩 A well marbled and properly salted dry aged steak paired with a full bodied syrah.
🍫 I’m a sucker for chocolate desserts. The more layers of chocolate the better.
Nutrition! I’m trying to body recomp so been learning about our body’s mechanisms for muscle growth and fat loss.
As I’ve gotten older, history has become more interesting to me. Probably helps that now I’m seeing it as stories instead of memorizing dates and facts. I recently enjoyed FDR’s biography, No Ordinary Time. Currently reading 10 Mistakes That Changed History.
I recently did a half ironman, hoping to do a full one in 2 years
